What is CateProtect®?
CateProtect is a material that extracts and combines the seed component of plants with "catechin", which is a green tea polyphenol. It is a naturally-derived antibacterial and antiviral material.
Tea catechins, which are abundantly contained in Japanese tea, are widely known as useful substances that exhibit various physiological activities such as antiviral, antibacterial, deodorant and antioxidant. Dr. Kaihatsu, a former associate professor at the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research, Osaka University, succeeded in developing a new type of tea catechin "CateProtect" technology that dramatically improves antiviral and antibacterial effects.
Characteristics
CateProtect has shown over 99% antiviral activity against the new coronavirus COVID-19 and human β coronavirus.
CateProtect, which is a hybrid of natural catechin and fatty acid, shows about 40 times more superior action on virus membranes than natural catechin (the effect varies depending on the virus type). It has also been confirmed to be effective against a wide range of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumonia.
Natural EGCG region has Odor-eliminating Function by adsorbing various odor substances.
